Activision have lifted the lid on a bunch of new features making their way into Call of Duty: Black Ops, including a brand new match type and the introduction of ‘CoD Points’.
So what are these CoD Points I hear you ask? Well according to Activision they rack up as you play, and can be used to purchase special abilities as well as ‘Contracts’ (which are essentially challenges limited to a specfic time frame).
You can put these points on the line in a brand new match type, called ‘Wager’. Only the top three players in the match see any reward, so you best be damn sure you can win before you head on to the battlefield. You can see it in action below…
Always getting ‘pwned’ online and scared of losing all your precious CoD Points? Well fear not, Treyarch are including a special Combat Training mode, playable both online and locally. Apparently 30% of CoD owners never venture online, so this could be the offline multiplayer they’ve been holding out for. Should also be a good little practice session for those newcomers to the series…Well, for the five people on the planet who haven’t bought Modern Warfare 2 yet.
Customisation also seems like it’s going to be more prominent in Black Ops. As standard you’ll be able to alter your gun’s camo, iron sight and emblems, but there’s also a new ‘Create a Class’ feature too. With this, your character’s appearance changes based entirely on what your primary perk is. The confirmed list of perks includes:
Tier 1
- Lightweight
- Scavenger – Resupply from dead bodies
- Ghost
- Hardline – Killstreaks 1 kill early
- Flak Jacket – Extra explosive resistance
Tier 2
- Hardened – Extra bullet penetration
- Scout
- Steady Aim – Extra accuracy when shotting from the hip
- Sleight of Hand – Faster reload
- Warlord – 2 attachments on primary weapon
Tier 3
- Marathon
- Ninja
- Second Chance
- Hacker
- Tactical Mask – Gas and flash bang resistance
So expect the ‘Hardline’ perk to make you look like a rough looking bloke, and the ‘Scavenger’ perk to make you look like…a rough looking bloke.
And that’s your lot for now. You can pick it up on PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 9th.
