The original Borderlands received five hefty chunks of DLC following its launch back in 2009, so you shouldn’t be too surprised to hear that Gearbox has already lifted the lid on the first add-on for next week’s loot-ridden shooter. Rather than giving you a bunch of new destructible playgrounds and a few bajillion more guns, you’re given access to a new character called “The Mechromancer”.
The Mechromancer, also less exotically known as Gaige, wages war using her robotic companion. She mainly sits back and let her little tin can do most of the dirty work, while she cheers him on from the sidelines while drawing away agro and occasionally taking a bullet for him.
From select retailers, the DLC will be completely free as a pre-order incentive. For everyone else it’s not quite such good news, with the femme fatalé setting you back a hefty £7.99 or 800 MSP. You’ll be able to download it via PSN and Xbox LIVE on October 17th.
