Rock Band 3 Announced

It’s been a long time coming, but Harmonix have officiallly announced Rock Band 3. Read on for what we know so far, and when you’ll be playing it…

After Rock Band 2 was released, Harmonix did hint they’d be rolling out the third installment of the game at some point in 2010. And this news is now official, with the developer revealing the game is on its way on the games official Facebook page.

What’s interesting though, is that they promise the game will ‘revolutionise the music genre once again’. What could this ominous message mean? New peripherals including a keyboard, a trumpet, or dare I suggest, a triangle maybe?

This game is set to be unleashed ‘this holiday season’. This means the game will see a US release toward the end of the year, so I’m going to foolishly assume we’ll be seeing it around the same time frame. Well, as long as we don’t get any delay like THAT one between between the US and European releases of the original Rock Band.

If you can’t wait that long, you could always invest in the Green Day iteration of the game which is due out in the summer if their music remotely appeals to you.

There’s no more details for the time being, but expect tracks to gradually unveiled over the coming months, and probably a few new game features too. We’re promised more details soon, so we’ll keep you updated.
